Woodie Grey Dixon

Woodie Grey Dixon, age 71, passed away on January 22, 2024. Born on October 14, 1952, in Thomasville, Alabama, to the late Strauther Dixon and Jewry Vell Blackmon, Woodie was a beloved father to Joshua, Adam, Christopher, and Jennifer Griffin.

Woodie was a devoted grandfather to Deborah Scott, Chaz Griffin, Christopher Griffin Jr., Chyra Griffin, and great-grandfather to Justin McCall. He was also a dear brother to Carolyn Pettaway (Montgomery, Alabama), Marie Crum (Montgomery, Alabama), Marilyn Dixon (Copperas Cove, Texas), Dorothy Danzy (Massillon, Ohio), and Alfred (Jerome) Dixon (Thomasville, Alabama), as well as a loving uncle to a host of nieces and nephews.

Woodie's memory is cherished by his uncle, Thomas Dixon (Detroit, Michigan), and aunt, Dora Blackmon (Dixon's Mill, Alabama).

He is preceded in death by his brothers Strauther (DV) Dixon Jr., Ernest Dixon, Ezell Dixon, William Dixon, Bennie Dixon, and sisters Ruthie Mae Jones, Ida Beatrice Pharms, Catherine Holt, Viola James, and Bessie Hollandsworth.

Woodie found joy in the simple things in life, such as fishing, cooking, bowling, playing cards, and spending time with his loved ones. He had a fondness for classic television shows like Bonanza and Walker Texas Ranger.
