Victor David Stepteau

Victor David Stepteau, Sr., age 79, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025. He was born on January 11, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Richard Manfred Stepteau (1916–1985) of Ironton, Ohio, and Rhoda (née Fontaine) Stepteau McCrayer (1919–2000). His parents were united in marriage on February 8, 1941. After Richard’s passing, Rhoda later married the late Robert J. McCrayer.

David was the beloved husband of Shirley Stepteau and the devoted father of Melissa (Juan, Sr.), Vanessa M., Sheree C., Victoria (Andres), David V. (Alexandria), Jason E. (LaShawn), Joshua J. (Erica), and Brittany. He was a cherished grandfather to Matthew, Zurie, Juan, Jr., Camille, Monica, Emmanuel, Antonio, Elijah, Kalib, Sr., Miracle, Lavelle, Mikayla, Jamarro, Henry, Markus, Monique, Jensen, Paul, Jr., Jason, Melissa, Adrian, Dorian, London, Damien, Yolanda, Liliana, and Reno. He was also a proud great-grandfather of Janiah, Josiah, Journie, Matthew, Jr., Marshawn, Malaysia, Juan, III, Jakarri, Giovanni, Javon, Julianna, Antonio, Jr., Armahni, Skye, Aaliyaha, Ma'Kenah, Za'nova, Kingston, Kaliah, Kalib, Jr., Jada, Jordan, Alana, Avery, Shamir, Shy'Mere, Amere, Araiah, Selenah, and Cerenity.

David is lovingly remembered by his siblings, Phillip Maurice Stepteau and Sheree R. McCrayer Boyd. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Richard Manfred Stepteau and Robert Darrell McCrayer; and his stepfather, Robert J. McCrayer.

Victor David Stepteau will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are welcome on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 5 p.m. until time of Service at 6 p.m., at Freedom Church 12401 Cooley Ave, Cleveland, OH 44111. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 10:45 a.m., at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, OH 44273 (please meet at cemetery by 10:30 a.m.).
