Thelma "Joan" Childers

Thelma Joan Childers, better known as Joan, age 72, passed away on July 31, 2026, in Fairview Park, Ohio.

Joan was born on October 7, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the beloved daughter of Beverly (nee Kotalik) Welz and the cherished stepdaughter of Dennis Welz, who lovingly cared for her throughout her life.

She was the dear sister of Teri Welz and William Rolfe, and was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert and Roger Rolfe and Dennis Welz, Jr. Joan was the treasured aunt of Tori Welz, Anthony Hopkins, Autumn (nee Welz) Pesta, Savannah Welz, Robert, Jr., Erin, Amanda, Brian and James Rolfe, and a loving great-aunt to Kendrick Davis, Brandon Moore, Terrion Caldwell and Zayne Hopkins.

Joan loved her cat, Badd, who brought her great companionship and joy. She also enjoyed playing bingo and the excitement and friendships that came along with it.

Joan will be remembered fondly by her family and all who knew and loved her. Her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Private family services were held and arrangements were entrusted to Slone & Co. Funeral Directors.
