Shirley Pelkey

Shirley Pelkey (nee Fretz), age 90, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, in Avon, Ohio. She was born on June 10, 1936, in Fayette City, Pennsylvania, to the late Percy and Martha Fretz (nee Hency).

Shirley was the beloved wife of the late John Robert Pelkey, who preceded her in death in 2004. She was the loving mother of Doug, Dale, David (Julie), and the late Dwanyne and Dustin. She was also the dear sister of Karen R. and Bill Fretz.

Shirley was a devoted homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family and home. She enjoyed watching old movies and Gunsmoke, and she had a fondness for collecting knickknacks. Her home reflected the things she loved and the memories she cherished.

Shirley will be remembered for her love of family, her quiet strength, and the simple joys that brought her happiness throughout her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
