Robert J. Hankey

Robert J. Hankey, age 76, passed away at home on August 28, 2026. He was born on May 24, 1950, to his parents, the late Ralph and Betty Hankey.

Robert was the husband of Susan Davis Hankey. He was a loving father to Thomas R. Gildea, MD (Reena Mehra, MD), Michael J. Gildea (Jill), Jennifer Hankey Houser (Bryan), and Sarah Hankey Ciarniello (Nicholas). He adored his grandchildren Hannah Gildea, Jacob Soderman, Rohan Gildea, Dahlia Gildea, Madelyn Houser, and Luca Ciarniello. He was the dear brother of Ralph Hankey (Pat) and the late Jean Hankey Wielgosz (the late Norman). He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, William J. Davis Jr. Robert is survived by his brother-in-law, The Rev. Dr. James L. Davis (Mary P. Davis, MD), as well as several nieces and nephews.

Robert had a lifelong career in pest control. He served as a member of the Air Force Reserve and was a member of Local Laborers Council 130 in Pennsylvania. He attended GAR High School and King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Robert was also a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Lakewood, Ohio.

His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, his dogs’ Murphy and Cooper and all who knew and loved him.
