Richard C. Brumfield Sr. was born May 26, 1951 in Hamlin, WV. Graduated from Duval Highschool, Venturing to Ohio as a young man, where he lived in Cleveland, OH, until he went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 23, 2023.
Survived By 5 siblings; brothers Ron (Kathy), Rodney (Catherine), Ottie, and Sisters Sharron (Gary) and Sherry. His children; Michelle (Michael) Lewallen (Daughter), Roman (Rachel) Didytch (Son), and Richard (Dawn Carrier) Brumfield Jr. (Son); 9 grandkids; Anthony, Michael, Devin, Larissa, Nadia, Natasha, Alanna, Richie (3rd), and Alexa; and dear uncle to many. Preceded in death by wife, Donna M. Brumfield, parents, James Henry Brumfield and Pearl Brumfield; and son, Steven Didytch.
Growing up in West Virginia, he learned a good work ethic, working on tobacco farms; He enjoyed picking music with his family and friends. A devoted Christian husband, father, and friend, he went on to become a legendary musician and person, having played with multiple bands and many types of music, including gospel, bluegrass, country, and rock-n-roll. Appearing in magazines and on TV, and playing many gigs, shows, and performances, with one goal in mind, to make people smile and have a good time.
He worked as a tool and dye maker at advance MFG for over 30 years, where he retired from later in life. He enjoyed music, hunting, fishing, picking blackberries, and going to the airport to watch the airplanes take off and land. His last days in music were spent playing with other legendary musicians at Curbside Coffee in the bluegrass kings with Lloyd Blevins and Ramblin’ Mountain; playing songs such as “Don't Squeeze my Charmin”, “Send Me Back Home”, “Amazing grace”, and “To the House of the Rising Sun”.
