Pearl Ethel Owen

April 21, 1938 — September 17, 2025

Cleveland

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Pearl Owen, went to be with the Lord on September 17, 2025, at the age of 87.
Affectionately known as “Grandmama,” she was the heart of our family. She raised seven children in total- her 5 biological children: Brenda, Cynthia, who preceded her in death and Deniese, who also preceded her in death, and her two sons Erwin, and Samuel. She also raised two of her grandchildren, Norreen and Nathaniel.

She was further blessed with three additional grandchildren: Vershawnda and Yolanda, And Terrell, who proceeded her in death. Her great grandchildren include Danielle, Jamirr, Dakoda, Davion, and Joshua.

In her early life, Pearl earned her associates degree and became a licensed practical nurse, (LPN), working in several nursing homes, where she cared for seniors with compassion and dedication. After an accident at work left her disabled, she entered early retirement and devoted her time to her greatest passion-cooking for her family. She was a master in the kitchen, often preparing meals and baked goods entirely from scratch.

She loved entertaining and hosted countless family gatherings and cookouts at her home. Pearl also had a deep love for flowers and gardening, even dedicating a room in her home to her plants until her health no longer allowed. In her leisure, she enjoyed watching her favorite shows, from classics like Gunsmoke, Columbo, Matlock, Perry Mason to newer favorites such as Law & Order. She also loved her soap operas, especially Young & the Restless. Pearl was also briefly active in her community, attending council meetings and boldly speaking out on issues that mattered. She was strong, outspoken and never hesitant to speak her truth-qualities she carried throughout her life.

Among her favorite pastimes was playing bingo, a game she joyfully introduced to her children & grandchildren.

Above all, Pearl Owen devoted her life to her family. Her love, strength and presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Family and friends are welcome on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 4:00 until the time of her Homegoing Service at 5:30 PM, at Slone & Co. Life Celebration Center 3556 W. 130th St. Cleveland, OH 44111.
