Pablo Roldan Ocasio

Pablo Roldan Ocasio, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and faithful servant of God, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, laughter, and devotion to his family.

Pablo was born on June 18, 1934, in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, to his parents, the late Pablo “Payo” and Eduarda “Duba” Ocasio. He was one of 13 children born to their union. In 1951, at the age of 18, Pablo left Puerto Rico and made Cleveland, Ohio, his home.

Sixty-two years ago, Pablo married his beloved wife, Clara. Their loving union was blessed with three wonderful daughters, Wanda (Terry) Groden, Theresa (Rick) Knisely, and Paula (Chuck) McGraw. He was the proud and loving grandfather of Leisha Lovell, Patrick and Nicole McGraw, Leah and Jacob Knisely, and Rebekah and Hannah Groden, and a cherished great-grandfather of ten.

Pablo was the dear brother of Elisa, Antonio “Tony,” Carmen, Francisco “Paco,” Rosa “Rosin,” and Maria “Coco.” He was preceded in death by his siblings, Alejandrino “Yayo,” Noberta “Tita,” Leandro “Lele,” Josefa “Chepa,” and Julia “Yuya,” as well as a sibling who died in infancy and whom Pablo faithfully remembered throughout his life.

Pablo loved his entire family deeply, but his grandchildren held an especially treasured place in his heart. He delighted in babysitting them and making sure they were always well fed. His grandchildren fondly remember that eating at Grandpa’s house was like visiting the Golden Corral—he would prepare several different dishes so that everyone could have exactly what they wanted and eat when they were ready. These moments of laughter, good food, and time spent together became cherished memories that his family will carry with them always.

Pablo worked as a machine operator for Otto Konigslow for 25 years. He was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and commitment to providing for those he loved.

His faith was also an important and enduring part of his life. Pablo was a faithful member of West 58th Street Church of God for 43 years. He officially became a member on September 27, 1982, after being brought to the altar by the church’s first pastor, the Reverend Howard Black, who made sure Pablo gave his life to Christ.

Pablo served his church with warmth, enthusiasm, and a welcoming spirit. He became known as the church’s best door greeter, offering a friendly smile and kind welcome to everyone who entered. His faithful service was recognized when he received the church’s “Volunteer Worker of the Month” award.

When he was not spending time with his family or serving his church, Pablo enjoyed watching sports, especially his beloved Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. He also loved watching Tom and Jerry and could often be heard “cracking up” at their antics. Watching the cartoon became a special tradition he shared with his grandchildren and remains one of the many joyful memories they will always treasure.

Pablo will be remembered for his steadfast faith, generous heart, sense of humor, welcoming smile, and unwavering love for his family. His life was a blessing to all who knew him, and his memory will continue to live on through the family he loved so dearly.

After 92 wonderful and memorable years, Pablo passed away surrounded by his family on July 21, 2026, in Cleveland, Ohio. The family will receive friends TUESDAY, JULY 28, 2026, FROM 4-6 PM AT THE W. 58 ST. CHURCH OF GOD, 3150 W. 58 ST. (one block South of Clark Ave.) where Services will be held at 6 PM.
