Ollie Redding, aged 93, passed away on May 25th, 2024, of natural causes after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She departed peacefully at Eliza Jennings in Cleveland with her daughter Sylvia by her side.
Born on May 19th, 1931, Ollie Redding touched the lives of those around her with her strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit. Despite facing the challenges of her life, she remained a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Ollie embodied kindness and compassion. Her selflessness and generosity knew no bounds, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of friends and family alike. Her legacy of love will be cherished by all who had the privilege of sharing in her journey.
Ollie was a gentle warrior. She committed her life to caring for others. No matter if you were a passerby at Tower City or along her chosen path, Ollie left a jolly impression on all whom she interacted.
Ollie attended Cleveland Public Schools where she graduated from John Hay High School. Ollie gave her life to Christ at a young age. She attended Second Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church and Cleveland Baptist Church.
Ollie married and had five children whom she loved dearly. When her marriage no longer worked, Ollie got to work in order to provide for her family. She received technical training that supported her in earning a career working for County Welfare from where she retired in 1996. Ollie spent the remainder of her healthy years visiting and caring for others.
Ollie was proceeded in death by her dear mother Evelyn, her brothers Oscar, Johnny and Robert, and her granddaughter Tanisha.
Ollie is survived by her loving family, including her brother Benny Hutcherson (Mattie), her children Carl, Joyce, Ronald (Brenda), Reginald, Sylvia, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grand children, nieces and nephews. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, and her strength will continue to inspire generations to come.
May Ollie rest peacefully, free from pain and may she be remembered for the love and light she brought into the lives of others.
