Emblem

Marvin Odom, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. Born on May 24, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Mary Harris and Linton Odom, Marvin was affectionately known to many as "Uncle B." To know him was to love him, and he was a constant, safe space for so many in his life.

A proud veteran, Marvin attended Cleveland Public Schools before honorably serving in the United States Army. After his military service, he built a distinguished career. He worked in the steel industry at Republic Steel before transitioning to public housing at the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority. He eventually found his true calling in healthcare as a caregiver at Judson Senior Living, where he was an exemplary employee and earned many accolades. Even as his health declined and he left the workforce, Marvin continued to step up for his family in any way needed.

Marvin was a dedicated family man. During his marriage to Theresa Davis, they had a daughter, Cherese Odom. He later re-married to Ruby Roberts and they had a son, Marvin Odom Jr. During this marriage, he also lovingly cared for two stepsons, Cornell Roberts and Harvey R. Lewis. Marvin spent the majority of his life with his beloved partner, Jodi Lynn Czirak, who preceded him in death.

Marvin's legacy continues through his grandchildren. He was a proud grandfather to Qui Shawn Odom, Terrell Payne, Jaylen Payne, and Kalauni Payne, the children of his daughter Cherese (Mike). He also leaves behind a granddaughter, Mariel Odom, the daughter of his son Marvin Jr.

A man of many talents and interests. He shared a deep love for Motown classics as well as photography. He was always the one to capture the family's best moments. Marvin was a diehard Cleveland Browns fan. During football season, you could always find him dressed in his best throwback jerseys and hats in his "man cave," ready to cheer on his team. He was a grill master, often praised for his delicious barbecue, at family gatherings. He shared a special bond with his siblings Mary and Theresa, who were his very best friends.

Marvin will be deeply missed by his seven living siblings: Martha Welch, Leonard Odom (Christine), Betty Redding (Robert), Mary Nichols, Eloise Fuller, Michael Odom, and Theresa Odom Walid. He was preceded in death by his brother, Clinton "Sunny" Odom. He also leaves behind his uncle Charles Harris (Emma), aunt-in-law Minnie Harris (Nathaniel deceased), a host of nieces, great-nieces, great-great-nieces, and nephews, both biological and self-proclaimed. His name and memory will be forever cherished.
