Lizzie Avent

Lizzie Avent, age 86, passed away on September 27, 2023. She was born on October 17, 1936, in Oxford, Mississippi, to the late Curtis Wilson and Bessie Austin.

Lizzie was a devoted wife to Curtis Avent, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared memories. Lizzie was the mother of Curtis Avent Jr., Brenda Avent, and Calvin Wilson. Though she experienced the profound sorrow of losing Brenda and Calvin, her enduring love for them remained steadfast.

Her legacy extends through generations as she was the proud grandmother of Derek McBryde, Chanella McDowell, Deandra Gordon, Deangelo C. Avent, Armani C. Avent, Alexis S. Avent, Maria Lizzie Avent, Kiminera Linn Union, Briana Hoffman, December Avent, Edward Lee Avent, Jamar Avent, and Dena Shank. The memory of Curtis Avent III will forever be held close to the hearts of those who knew him.

Lizzie shared a special bond with her siblings, Lee Wilson, the late Curtis Lee Wilson, the late AC Wilson, the late TC Wilson, the late LC Wilson, the late Richard Wilson, the late Hattie Logan, the late Robert Wilson, and Pastor James Wilson.

Her nurturing spirit extended to her nieces and nephews, including Kelley Logan, Robert Wilson, James Wilson Jr., the late Curley Wilson, George R. Avent, Arnor Wilson, Dwayne Wilson, Willie Brown, the late Jeannie Wilson, Pastor J. H. Brown, Vernon Wilson, the late Bernard McChee, Lisa Quetin, Faristeen Lipsey, Marylyn Applelin, Brenda Holmes, Dorothy Cobbs, Earnestine Avent, Sharlette Bacon, Caesari Avent, Simone Butler, as well as several special cousins including Linda Mack, Essie Thomas, Glynda Marionaux, Sidney Armstrong, Edward Wiggins, Carolyn Wiggins, Anita Arnold, and close family friends, Paul Henny, Faye Ford, Jassmen Brown Avent.

Lizzie Avent will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the unwavering love she bestowed upon her family. Her legacy is one of enduring love, strength, and the deep bonds she forged with those fortunate enough to be a part of her life.

Family and friends are welcome on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 11 a.m. until time of Homegoing Service at 11:30 a.m., at Slone & Co. Life Celebration Center 3556 W. 130th St. Cleveland, OH 44111. Interment Riverside Cemetery.
