Layquan Devonta McCraken

March 3, 1993 — November 23, 2023

Cleveland, Ohio

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Layquan Devonta McCraken on November 23, 2023, at the age of 30. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on March 3, 1993, Layquan was the cherished son of Evelyn Yolanda Garcia.

Layquan embraced life with an unparalleled zest, always cherishing his roles as a devoted son to his loving mother, a doting father to his children, and a caring relative to his extended family. He possessed a grand sense of humor that brightened the lives of all those around him, firmly believing that life should never be lived in dull moments.

A true maestro in the kitchen, Layquan's passion for cooking was unparalleled. His culinary skills were not just a source of nourishment but a testament to his love for bringing people together. He engaged in friendly culinary competitions, vying for the title of the best meal with his beloved mother, Evelyn. His kitchen was a place of joy, laughter, and the delightful aroma of his creations. His magnetic energy and vibrant personality touched the lives of many. He was always very protective of his loved ones and was an avid Eagles fan and known as the big teddy bear with a pure heart. Those priviledged to know him discovered the warmth, laughter and joy that radiated from him, filling every room he entered.

In addition to his mother, Layquan is survived by his adoring children, Alora and Vitani; brothers, Adam, Ismael and Parish; sisters, Yolandie, Letisha, Cassidy, Cielo, Jaylynn, Destiny and Carmen, and his beloved grandparents, Miguel and Yolanda. He also leaves behind a host of additional close relatives and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Layquan Devonta McCraken's departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will live on in the cherished memories of those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. May he rest in eternal peace, and may his family find solace in the beautiful moments they shared with him during his too-short journey on this earth.
