Judith G. Burgess

Judith G. Burgess, age 76, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, with the love of her life and husband of 60 years, Gary, by her side holding her hand until the very end. She was born in Hyden, Kentucky, to her loving parents, the late Seymour and Oza (nee Sizemore) Spencer.

Judy was the beloved wife of Gary Burgess and the devoted mother of Rebecca (Greg) Bottorff, Gary Burgess, Christopher (Billie-Jean) Burgess, Joshua (Krista) Burgess, and James Burgess. She was the cherished grandmother of Daniel, Stephanie, James, Brittany, Abby, Adam, Skye, Alyssa, Maxwell, Andrea, Jackson, Brooke, Kyle, Isabella, Kambria, Kloe, Solomon, and Ella, and the loving great-grandmother of Hayden, Troy, Acaydia, Miles, Ezra, Noah, Amelia, Everleigh, and Ellowynn.

Together, Judy and Gary lived life on their own terms, courageously rewriting their story as they pursued new dreams and adventures. From farming to enjoying lake life in Tennessee, and eventually retiring to Cleveland, they embraced each season of life with faith, determination, and love. In retirement, they found great joy supporting their son Joshua's church and being actively involved in the lives of their young grandchildren.

Above all, Judy's greatest calling was her family. She delighted in bringing everyone together for holidays and celebrations, creating traditions that will continue for generations. An exceptionally talented seamstress, baker, cook, and crafter, she lovingly shared her gifts with her children and grandchildren, teaching them not only practical skills but also the importance of making memories together. The joy she cultivated around family gatherings and holidays remains one of her greatest legacies.

Judy's unwavering faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She loved the Lord passionately and faithfully served Him as a devoted prayer warrior and leader in women's ministries. Her steadfast faith inspired all who knew her, and her family finds comfort in knowing she is now rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who surrounded Judy with love, prayers, and compassionate care during her final weeks. Your kindness and support brought comfort during a difficult time and will always be remembered. To her beloved family in Southern Ohio and beyond, please know how deeply Judy cherished each of you. She often reflected on the memories you shared, the family traditions you built together, and the special moments that remained close to her heart. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith, love, generosity, and devotion to family will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.

Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in the beautiful life she lived, the enduring love she shared, and the faith that carried her home. Her legacy of love, family, tradition, and unwavering devotion to Christ will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.

Family and friends are welcome on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10 a.m. until time of Homegoing Service at 11 a.m., at Freedom Church 12401 Cooley Ave. Cleveland, OH 44111. Interment Butternut Ridge Cemetery.
