Beloved father of Joseph D. Jakowski (Dianna). Loving grandfather of Hayden. Dearest brother of Rose Birel (Sam) and Richard Jakowski. Uncle to Michael. Beloved son of the late Stanley and Margaret Jakowski. Mr. Jakowski had a long history of service to his community and country. He served the Village of Newburgh Heights with great dedication and honor as police Captain, Detective, acting Chief of Police, and patrolman for over 24 years. He was a decorated U.S. Army Vietnam War Veteran, serving as Military Police and training as an Airborne Ranger. Funeral Prayers Wednesday January 19, 2011 at 9:00am at the Bican Bros. Funeral Home 5215 Fleet Ave. with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am at St. John Nepomucene Church. Interment Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
