James J. Walsh

James "Jim" J. Walsh, passed away on June 6, 2025, in Medina, Ohio at the age of 79. Born on June 22, 1945, in Lakewood, Ohio, Jim lived a life filled with dedication to his career, community, and family.

After retiring as a custodian with Berea City Schools that spanned three decades, Jim continued to serve his community as a greeter at Walmart, with his warm personality and welcoming spirit. He was proud of his role in nurturing the young ones in his community as a longtime Cub Scout and Boy Scout Master at St. Clement Catholic Church, where he was also a devoted parishioner.

Jim Walsh will be remembered not only for his contributions to his profession and community, but also for the love he shared with his family. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him, as they carry forward the values he embodied throughout his life.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife Janet (nee Harsh), with whom he shared 52 wonderful years. He is also survived by his cherished children, Katharine Austin, Christopher (Katie Ann) Walsh, and Patrick (Shannon) Walsh. Jim took immense pride in his grandchildren Lexi, Hope, Mckenna, Shelby, Morgan, Cian, and Nilan, as well as his step-grandchildren Chelsey and Christian. He is also remembered by his sister Margaret Walsh, along with many family members, friends, and the countless "rent-a-kids" who were a welcome part of his extended family.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (nee Gillespie) Walsh, his grandson Matthew, and his brother William Walsh.

Family and friends are welcome on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Slone & Co. Funeral Directors 13115 Lorain Ave. Cleveland, OH 44111. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 10 a.m., St. Clement Church 2022 Lincoln Ave. Lakewood, OH 44107 (please meet at church). Interment Lakewood Park Cemetery.
