Ida Mae Roseman

June 24, 1932 — April 8, 2024

Cleveland, Ohio

Ida Mae Roseman was born on June 24, 1932, in Lockland, Ohio, to Paul Allen, Sr. and Eunice Greenwood. Throughout her childhood, she always looked out for her brother, Paul, Jr. and protected him and cousin Eddy from bullies. In 1950, Ida graduated from Lockland Wayne High School, in Lockland, Ohio, and gave birth to her only child, Carlyn. Ida was employed with The General Electric Company. While in Cincinnati, she met Arthur "Shorty" Roseman and the two married and moved to Cleveland, Ohio.

As a believer in God, Ida joined Leviticus Sweet Pilgrim MBC of Cleveland, Ohio. She served as a mother of the church, enjoyed choir selections, and the teachings of Minister Horace Glover, Jr. Ida held several jobs, including employment at Cleveland State University's Food Department and Paul's Serv-Rite Food Market, where she worked for over 45 years. She enjoyed engaging with her customers and providing a service to the community.

Ida was affectionately called "Granny" by her family and loved ones. She enjoyed going to the beauty salon regularly and having her hair styled. Ida was a woman of her word and whatever she said she meant. She could be as sweet as pie or firmly admonish you if you earned it. Her husband Shorty was the love of her life next to her daughter. Ida and her daughter Carlyn were almost inseparable as they often prepared meals together and hung out. She loved to eat and made delicious salmon croquettes. Ida was the anchor of her family and when they needed her, she always made the time and assisted however she could.

Ida passed away on Sunday morning, April 8, 2024, at home with her family by her side. She will be fondly remembered by her brother Paul (Vera) Allen Jr. of Xenia, Ohio; step-daughters Gwen Williams and Carlyn Dockery of Cincinnati; sister-in-law Caludia Roseman of North Carolina, her beloved grandchildren and caregivers, Adrian Lewis, Sr. and April Lewis; a host of great-grandchildren, including Doneic G. Lewis, Sr. who also helped to care for her, many great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.

Ida was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur R. Roseman, and daughter Carlyn Lewis. The family is greatly appreciative of her niece Nicole Stephens, and family friend, Delores Lavelle; both of Cleveland, Ohio, who assisted Ida with her daily needs and provided comfort. The love, patience, and kindness bestowed is heartfelt and will never be forgotten. The Roseman and Lewis families would also like to thank Cleveland Clinic Hospice nurses and case managers for all of the loving care shown to Ida and her family.

God blessed Ida with 91 years and she will surly be missed.
