Hattie Mae Williams

September 18, 1942 — July 1, 2023

Cleveland, Oh

Hattie Mae Williams, age 80, passed away on July 1, 2023. She was born on September 18, 1942, in Montgomery, Alabama, to Laura Mae Washington and Ben Webster. Hattie Mae Williams relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1963 after marrying Willie James Williams. Together, they raised six children: Ronald, Carl, Arnette, Alicia, Donald, and Nanette. In later years, Hattie married John Williams, and they welcomed their child Telly.

Hattie Mae Williams dedicated her professional life to the Cleveland Public School System. However, she found true joy in the simple pleasures of life, cherishing her role as a stay-at-home mom, cooking delicious meals, hosting gatherings, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She possessed a contagious sense of humor and embraced her authentic self. Hattie's favorite saying was, "Always do right by people," a mantra she lived by and shared with those around her.

Hattie is now reunited with her loved ones in eternity, including her mother Laura Mae Washington, father Ben Webster, husband John Williams, and son Carl Williams.

She is survived by her sister Luevenia Taylor, six children: Ronald, Arnette, Alicia (Louis), Donald (Sandra), Nanette, and Telly (Sabrina), as well as her beloved grandchildren: Danny Jr. (Mel), Omar, Amir, Sade, Kimyana, Latraycie, Tramaine, Darrion, Jacqueline, Charisma, Donald Jr. (Raechelle), Demetruis (Jaspaul), Amber, Eugene, Wonder, Tyree, Telly Jr., Devonte, and Telliah. Hattie's legacy will also be cherished by her great-grandchildren: Demetrius Jr., Kashmere, Shamiah, Arien, Sidney, K’vion, Dale, Skylar, Olivia, Omar Jr., Sade-Mac, Prince, and Cairo. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her nieces and nephews: Annie, Denise, Edward, Charles (Cassandra), Wilbert, as well as a host of great nieces and nephews.
