February 19, 1952 — December 17, 2020

Edward T. MacMillan, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Cleveland Clinic- Hill
Crest Medical Center.
Born on February 19, 1952 in Frostburg, MD he was the son of the late Edward and Betty
(McKnight) MacMillan.
In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his brother Archie William
MacMillan; niece, Jennifer MacMillan; and nephews Jeffrey MacMillan, Corey Moore, and
Jimmy MacMillan.
Eddie was a graduate of Parma Senior High. He spent 40 years working “behind the chair” as a
cosmetologist working with a variety of clients many of which had been his clients for a number
of years. He had a passion for animals and for helping those in need which led him to adopt
retired Greyhounds and to become active in fundraising for Greyhound Adoption of Ohio. As he
became more involved with Sighthounds, an ancient breed from Africa, known as the 'Azawakh',
caught Eddie's attention. Eddie’s love for this rare breed led him to promote this breed within the
USA. As President of the local field trial Club 'LARK' active member of the Detroit Kennel
Club and later the elected President of the American Azawakh Association National breed club,
Eddie helped to leverage the Azawakh to full recognition by the American Kennel Club. He
would see the fruits of his labor as the Azawakh breed competed in the world-famous
Westminster Dog Show for the first time in 2019.Through his work, involvement in the activities
related to his dogs, as well as his more recent interest in reggae music led him to develop a
number of meaningful friendships.
He is survived by his brother, Bob and wife Jean; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Brown, Thomas
MacMillan, Kelly and husband Chris Ackerman and Andrea and husband Garrett Mathews;
numerous great nieces and nephews as well as best of friends, Carola Beranek, Henry Cattret,
Jeanie Martin, Bruce Steinel, Laura Tripp, Christina Via, and Karen Welker.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all of those who knew him.
