Edward J. Broderick

Edward Joseph Broderick, age 62, passed away on November 14, 2023 after a brave 7 month battle with cancer. Ed was born on July 14, 1961 in Cleveland to the late William and wife, Barbara (nee Butchin) Koney. He was raised in Cleveland and Westlake, Ohio until moving to Columbus to pursue higher education. After graduating from The Ohio State University, Ed continued to live in Columbus for several years before relocating back to Cleveland. In Cleveland, Ed worked as a manager for Remax, directly for and handpicked by Cleveland Mayor Jane Campbell, and as a Senior Manager of Front of House for Playhouse Square. Ed’s biggest accomplishment and legacy will be the love and connections he created during his tenure at Playhouse Square.

He is survived by his closest companion, Ilia Mengri; siblings, Jim and Kris Koney; best friend Tom Decter; stepmother, Nancy Koney and stepsisters, Renee Bourne and Rochelle Turner. In addition to his father, Ed was preceded in death by his grandmother, Anne Koney; great aunt, Elsie Thoman; aunts and uncles, Florence and Leonard Grajewski, Mary Ann and Theodore Chmura; cousin, Bobby Chmura and dear friend Sylvia Coleman.

Family and friends will be received Monday, November 20, 2023 from 1 to 6 PM at Slone & Co. Life Celebration Center, 3556 W. 130^th St. Cleveland, OH 44111 and Wednesday, November 22, 2023, from 9 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM, St. Mel Church, 14436 Triskett Rd. Cleveland, OH 44111. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cuyahoga Co. Animal Shelter, at www.cuyahogadogs.com.
