Edna Alberta Watkins

Edna Alberta Watkins, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the age of 78.

Born on June 7, 1948, Edna was lovingly known throughout her life as Alberta, a name that was special to her and to all who knew and loved her. Family was always at the very heart of who she was. She loved her children and grandchildren deeply and took great pride in the family she created. To her grandchildren, she was lovingly known as Mamaw and Grandma, names that will forever carry the warmth, comfort, and love she gave so freely.

Alberta was a devoted mother to Samantha Goodrich (Dennis), Robert Watkins (Danae), and Jeff Watkins. She was a cherished grandmother to Leah Lampe (Cameron), Jason Brent, Brian Watkins (Krystal), Amber Watkins (Deceased), Landon Watkins, Dylan Watkins, Mitchell Watkins, and Marissa Watkins. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Wells Lampe, Payton Watkins, Lucas Watkins, Hailey Watkins, Abby Tohill, Logan Watkins, Daniel Calloway, and William Calloway.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby Joe Watkins. Alberta came from a large and loving family and was one of ten siblings: Tommy Barnes (Norma Jean), Delores Barnes, Shirley Gibbs (Hugh), Linda Barnes (Troy), Janie Morris (Sam), Donnie Barnes (Stephanie), Carol Estep (Lloyd), Butch Barnes (Linda), and Arlene Cottril (Amos). She was also a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews and often spoke about how much it meant to her that they stayed in touch, checked on her, and continued to show her their love.

Alberta found happiness in the simple things in life—especially a good game of Bingo, playing poker with her family, and listening to classic country music. But more than anything, she treasured being surrounded by the people she called family.

Her warmth, kindness, and love for her family will be deeply missed. The memories she created and the love she shared will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
