Derek Kaminski, affectionately known as “Duke”, a devoted family man, passed away on April 26, 2026, in Parma, Ohio. Born on August 23, 1958, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Duke was a dedicated worker at Compass Health. His dedication to his profession was reflected in the care and compassion he extended to those around him.
An avid sports enthusiast, Duke found joy in softball, fishing, and rooting for The Cleveland Browns. These interests were part of the fabric of his life and provided countless cherished moments with family and friends.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Debra Kaminski; his children, Jacob Kaminski, Danae Kaminski, Michael Vego, and Jason Prehoda; and by his cherished grandchildren Alison Prehoda, Andrew Vego, Shianne Prehoda, Ian Prehoda, Anthony Chambers, Brooklynn Vego, Mikey Vego, Marley Kaminski, and Brody Kaminski. Duke’s warmth extended to his great-grandchildren, Bloom, Addyson, and Breyer, who brought him immeasurable joy. His surviving siblings, Douglas Kaminski and Vicki Kappotos, also mourn his loss and remember him with affection.
Duke was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Donna Kaminski, and his sister, Renee Kaminski, whose memories remain a treasured part of Derek's life.
Family and friends are welcome on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Slone & Co. Funeral Directors 13115 Lorain Ave. Cleveland, OH 44111.
Duke’s legacy is one of love and dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and his memory will endure within the hearts of his family and friends.
