Deborah A. Cruz

Deborah A. Cruz, age 65, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025. She was born on November 5, 1960, in Cleveland, Ohio, to her loving parents, the late George and Mildred (nee Ledford) Hobbs. She was the beloved mother of Jessica M. (nee Hobbs) McCalpine (Tony, Sr.) and her son-in-love, Stevie. Cherished grandmother of Luis A. Santiago, Jr. (Natalie) and Tony G. McCalpine, Jr., and proud great-grandmother of Luis A. Santiago, III.

Deborah was the dear sister of Billy (deceased), Donald (deceased), Richard “Deda” (deceased), Dena (deceased), Jeannie (deceased), Tammy, Ron, John (deceased), and Marie. She was a treasured aunt and great-aunt to a host of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Deborah enjoyed talking with her family and spending time with Jess and her grandsons. She will be remembered for her warmth, her humor, and the love she shared so freely with those around her.

Family and friends are welcome on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 4 p.m. until time of Homegoing Service at 6:30 p.m., at Freedom Church 12401 Cooley Ave, Cleveland, OH 44111. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 2:30 p.m., at Riverside Cemetery 3607 Pearl Rd. Cleveland, OH 44109 (please meet at gates by 2:15 p.m.).

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to help support the funeral expenses.
