Daniel H. Schmidt

Daniel H. Schmidt, 67, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday September 12^th, 2023.  

Dan was a man of few, but important words who enjoyed the simplicities in life.

Whether he was laughing with his family, fishing on his boat or riding his Harley alongside friends, he lived life with a full cup. 

Born in Cleveland Ohio to the late Donald and Lucille Schmidt, he is survived by his brothers David Schmidt (Deborah Schmidt) and Douglas Schmidt (Cheryl Schmidt). Survived by his beautiful daughters Victoria Smith (Kyle Smith) and Kristen Stannert (Jim Stannert), grandchildren Quinn Smith, Sully Smith, Maya Stannert and Eli Stannert. 

He retired from the railroad, CSX, in 2014 after 40 years of hard work on the tracks.  His dedication there earned him many lifelong friends.

Riding his Harley was Dan’s passion in life. He cherished the time spent with his riding buddies who shared his love for adventure, freedom on the open road, and the unmistakable roar of the engine only a Harley Davidson could bring.

Dan spent many days on his boat in Lake Erie.  His love for fishing allowed him to calm his mind and appreciate the little things in life.  He was sincere, humble and creative – a true music lover who dabbled in guitar and especially enjoyed listening to live bands with his family and friends.  

He will join his sister, Katherine Schmidt, who preceded him in the afterlife. Together again, they will continue looking after his family and enjoy watching his creativity live on. 

Dan leaves behind a legacy of creativity, adventure and love that will continue to inspire those who carry his memory in their hearts.
