Contez Mathews, affectionately known as "Tushie" or "Chuck", was born on December 20, 1992, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Charlissa Woods and LeConte Mathews, who raised him with love, strength, and unwavering support. From a young age, he displayed a vibrant spirit, a kind heart, and a natural ability to bring joy to those around him. Whether through his infectious laughter, caring nature, or his gift for turning any moment into a cherished memory, Contez was a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Contez attended Case Elementary, Wade Park Elementary, Daniel E. Morgan, and Wilson School. From the age of three, he found joy in all sports. He participated at the Kovacic Recreation Center in t-ball, basketball, flag football, volleyball, and track, always eager to share his talents and enthusiasm with those around him.
Known as the “life of the party,” Contez was always the first one on the dance floor and the last one to leave. He loved working out and telling jokes, bringing laughter and energy wherever he went.
Contez was deeply devoted to his family and friends. He cherished his relationships and was a source of strength, laughter, and support to everyone who needed him.
He is survived by his loving mother, Charlissa Woods; his siblings, Chyante Mathews, Breion Baker, Barry Baker, Ashley Baker, Chloe Woods, LeConte Turner, Chancellor Turner, Adrionna Null, Janii Valentine, and Leconte Mathews Jr.; his spouse, Kimshawnna Ford; his beloved children, Mason, Hanna, Liberty, and Harley Mathews; and his cherished niece, Cali Virola. He is also survived by his grandparents, Francine Mathews, and Charles, along with a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends.
Contez was preceded in death by his father, LeConte Mathews, and his maternal grandparents, Brenda Woods and Jessie Bryant, whom we take comfort in knowing welcomed him with open arms.
His spirit will live on in every shared story, every echo of laughter, and every act of love inspired by his example. We will forever carry him in our hearts.
