Bonnie Karen Kovanitz, age 84, passed away on April 4, 2025. She was born on January 11, 1941, in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, to her loving parents, the late William Curtis Tate and Marie Dickinson.
Beloved wife of the late Alex Kovanitz. Devoted mother of Robert D. Gheen (Tania), Karen K. Haines (William, deceased), Mark A. Gheen (Debbie), and Patrick S. Gheen (Sophia). Cherished grandmother of Shannon M. Haines, Jessica N. Zubek (Craig), Krysten L. Sarrouh (Farres), Patrick A. Gheen, and Robert A. Gheen. Treasured great-grandmother of Jayce Zubek, Delaney Zubek, Sami Sarrouh, Lucas Sarrouh, Kaylee McMillen, and Dominic Sarrouh.
Dear sister of Lorraine Doak, David Tate, Romaine Weber, and Laura Ferris—all of whom preceded her in death. Bonnie was also a treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews.
She had a warm and caring spirit and found joy in cooking, reading, and collecting angels and clowns. Bonnie’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are welcome on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Slone & Co. Funeral Directors 13115 Lorain Ave. Cleveland, OH 44111. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at Riverside Cemetery 3607 Pearl Rd. Cleveland, OH 44109 (please meet at gates by 10:15 a.m.).
