Beverly Grace Jones, 73, of Ohio City in Cleveland, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 29.
It sounds cliche, but Bev really was loved by all who knew her. She spent her life in service as a Catholic Worker, RN, activist, and artist. She followed the example of Jesus Christ in loving the stranger, the neighbor, and those in need.
In her work as an artist, she created beautiful pottery, as well as pieces reminding us of the importance of loving everyone around us exactly as they are. Her house was always adorned with symbols that helped us feel loved and safe, from her Black Lives Matter sign to her full sized Progress Pride flag. She put so much of her heart in everything she did.
She contributed to Parade the Circle for many years, with her art and her caring. In addition, she was a volunteer at election polling places, carried petitions, welcomed refugees, and kept a beautiful garden. Her volunteer work crossed boundaries when she travelled to Nicaragua as part of Potters for Peace.
Bev is mourned by so many, including her sons, Jason and Jeremy Felice, their partners, Alex and Tracy, cousin Bill Leppelmeier, nieces Jenny Babcock, Missy Balint, Grace Cirkl, and Samantha Jones, grandchildren Nova, Juliana, Teo and Jakub, and her great-niblings Natalie, Ryan, Roman, Mackenzie, and Leo. There’s also her faith community, Community of Christ the Servant, and too many friends, neighbors, and fellow volunteers to count. We will all miss her loving presence in our lives.
An open house is planned for family and friends from 5pm-7pm on November 25 at her home. Instead of flowers, please share in any way you can: kind charity or care for those around you. She would love that.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Slone & Co. Funeral Directors.
