Archie Adkins, 96 years old, earned his crown and peacefully passed into eternal life on October 7th, 2022 to be with his wife and Savior in Heaven. He was born on February 10th, 1926 in Logan County, West Virginia. A hardworking, tenacious, outspoken, wise, disarmingly witty and constantly faith-filled man of God; Archie was an enduring example of humility and gentleness to his family, friends, and all who loved him. Archie served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and he worked for Republic Steel/LTV as a railroad engineer for over 40 years. He enjoyed country and gospel music, fishing, hunting, gardening, reading, traveling, especially to his birthplace of West Virginia, and spending time with his family. He met his wife, Mary Ruth Adkins, in Cleveland, married in 1954, and shared 66 years of marriage with her. He is survived by his six children: Archie Lee Jr.(Kathi), Amos (Rhonda), Roxie (Willie Cox), Timmy (Renee), Caroline, and Tracy (Robert Plumley). He was also blessed with an expansive legacy of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who he took great pride in and who will carry on his teachings and example for the rest of their lives. He now joyfully returns to his friends, family, and wife to share eternity in peace and love. He was an active and devout member of Bethel Freewill Baptist Church where his spirit and strength will be greatly missed.
