Antonio Gonzalez was born in Yauco, Puerto Rico on February 8, 1946 as the fifth of twelve children born to Teodosio and Mercedes Gonzalez. As a boy he worked on his family's farm in which sugar cane was the primary product. He moved to Cleveland at the age of 16 in 1962. It was here where he met and married Petra Vazquez on December 26, 1964. Out of this matrimony the couple produced six children, Awilda, Abigail, Magaly, Nancy, William (Willie), and Michael.
He worked as Assemblyman for Club Aluminum Products Company for 10 years and was also an over the road semi-truck driver delivering industrial components from Cleveland to New York. Antonio had a passion for repairing cars and was an elite mechanic throughout most of his life. He loved race cars and always owned nice cars during his lifetime. You could find him most of the time reminiscing with family and friends in his garage while drinking his favorite beverage (Budweiser) and listening to good music, or relaxing at Edgewater lake with his wife.
Antonio was a fighter and in his later years he was able to overcome several health issues as he endured and survived four major surgeries. Antonio departed from this earth on August 8, 2022 at Fairview Hospital. He is survived by 6 siblings, 6 children, 16 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
Family and friends are welcome on Sunday, August 14, 2022, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Slone & Co. Funeral Directors 13115 Lorain Ave. Cleveland, OH 44111.
