It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Alicia R. Bowen, who passed away on May 4th, 2023 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a loving mother to Joshua J. Bowen, Jacob D. Bowen, and Jonathan G. Bowen as well as a caring stepmother to Steve Berry, Shawn Bowen Jr., Jessica Bowen, and Kaila Bowen.
Born on August 20th, 1982 in Cleveland, Ohio to Alan R. Kirk and Stephanie M. Riccobene. Alicia joins her siblings Kevin Knight and Jessica M. Litchney in heaven, and leaves behind her siblings Jessica C. Kirk and Christopher Cacic Kirk. Her nephews Dominic Kirk, Vincent Meyers, Raphael Kirk, and niece Scarlett Kirk brought tremendous joy into her life.
Alicia dedicated her life to caring for others through her work as a paraprofessional teaching and caring for special needs children in the Parma City Schools, and as a post-partum doula where she helped families as they welcomed their new babies into their lives. Everyone who worked with Alicia described her as loving and devoted to her special needs students and the new parents she worked with.
In her free time, Alicia loved to draw and paint. She had an incredible artistic talent that she shared through all sorts of mediums. Alicia was also passionate about music - she could often be found listening to records while cooking dinner for her family.
Some of her favorite memories were spent watching Dr. Who or admiring Harley Quinn, which perfectly encapsulated her sense of humor.
Alicia touched the lives of everyone she met - whether it be through the special needs students she taught and cared for, the new parents she supported as a doula or simply getting lost in conversation about art or music. Her kindness extended beyond strangers; even those who were lucky enough to call themselves friends could expect nothing but love and support from her.
Alicia is deeply missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Shawn E. Bowen, and her siblings Kevin Star and Jessica M. Litchney. Her legacy of love will live on through each life she touched as well as the beautiful memories that her family will always carry with them.
