Agnes Gertrude Doell

Agnes Gertrude Doell passed away on March 12, 2024, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was 82 years old.

She was born at the old St. John's Hospital, in Cleveland, Ohio on October 24, 1941. Agnes was the third of five children born to the late Phillip E. and Agnes G. (nee McGuire) Doell, and their only daughter.

Agnes was a graduate of Magnificat High School, Class of 1959, and St. John's College, where she obtained a teaching degree. She would spend the next 51 years teaching-seven years at St. Joseph's in Strongsville, Ohio, and then from 1971 until she retired, teaching first graders at St. Mary Byzantine. In 2010, she was named "Parma Sun Post Person of the Week: March 14, 2010" in which it was stated that "her first love has always been first graders and their highly inquisitive minds." She made many life-long friends and was a proud member of the Cleveland West Retired Teacher Association.

She was 100% Irish, and always enjoyed going to Hooley House every other Monday to listen to Irish Bands and enjoyed Irish Coffee.

She was also very religious with a deep love of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was a member of the St. Ignatius of Antioch's Legion of Mary Society, the Forever Young Club at St. Joseph's Byzantines Church and BREATHE, a club for Christian Women.

Agnes is survived by her brothers, James and Thomas; many nieces and nephews; countless students that she taught throughout the years and numerous lifelong teaching friends including Lynn Delnegro.

Her death reunites her with her parents, Phillip and Agnes; brothers, Phillip and John; and her dear friend Bruce Wiser.

O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen 

Family and friends are welcomed on MONDAY, MARCH 18TH FROM 9:30 TO 11:30 AM AT SLONE & CO. LIFE CELEBRATION CENTER, 3556 WEST 130TH STREET. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately at 12 Noon at St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church, 10205 Lorain Avenue (at West Blvd.). Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
